In the 2011/2012 budget year circulation of items reached 29,164 for a population of 1,207. Patron visits were 16,354. Eighty-one new library cards have been added in the past year, and 2,011 people have used our T-1 internet connection.Total materials held at end of this past year was 36,358, inlcuding 52 cake pans and 101 cookie cutters that we began collecting in our new facility.

Battle Creek Library's goals include providing up-to-date technological services and working with local leaders and citizens to provide information, education and entertainment. On December 21, 2009, the Library Foundation received a donation from the Lied Foundation & Trust for $100,000. The new building was named Lied Battle Creek Public Library in memory of Ernst F. Lied in memory of his parents, Ernst M. Lied and Ida K. Lied, and a dedication plaque will be displayed on an interior wall of the library. Learning Express Library (link beneath headline) is a site containing many tests that allows library patrons to access practice exams before they take their licensing, certification or entrance exams. New to this site are practice lessons on seeking a new job, writing a cover letter and a resume. It also includes advice on taking an interview for a job. Career tests included are GED, GRE, SAT, ACT, Civil Service, math and reading skills, EMT and firefighter exams. You will need to know your library card number for your username when you login. Contact the librarians to get that information before you click on the Learning Express link.

	A recent service to Battle Creek Library patrons is our downloadable audiobook service from Overdrive, Inc. Click on the Download Audiobookslink and find fiction and nonfiction audiobooks for you to download to your PC and then to your MP3 or burn to a CD. To check an item out you will need to know your patron card number (Ask your librarian).The newest service included with our Overdrive link is downloadable e-books. When you go to our site, there will be information on the left side of the page that tells you what kind of e-book reader will be compatible with this site.These two are free services offered on our webpage in conjunction with other Nebraska libraries and the Nebraska Library Commission. Recently, the Kindle became a compatible partner to Overdrive's e-book catalog.
	Our newest service to patrons with patrons who have e-book readers. There are right now eleven magazine titles that may be downloaded to your reader. It is a free service, but you need to check with the library about how you sign up to download magazines. A few of the magazines offered are on our shelves currently, but many are new magazines that we do not now carry in print form. Come in and talk to us about signing up.
	The Online Book Club delivers a chance to sample many new books for 1 week at a time. They are delivered to your e-mail and you can request the title if we have it or it can be inter-library loaned.
	The Battle Creek School website offers information about school activities, classes and upcoming events.
	Our fundraising effort with Rada Mfg. is ongoing. Any other donations or fundraising ideas are very welcome at any time.
