In the 2007/2008 budget year circulation of items reached 33,578 for a population of 1,158. Patron visits were 15,248.Seventy-four new library cards have been added in the past year, and 3,062 people have used our T-1 internet connection.

Battle Creek Library's goals include providing up-to-date technological services and working with local leaders and citizens to provide information, education and entertainment.

A new service to Battle Creek Library patrons is our downloadable audiobook service from Overdrive, Inc. Click on the Download Audiobookslink and find fiction and nonfiction audiobooks for you to download to your PC and then to your MP3 or burn to a CD. To check an item out you will need to know your patron card number (Ask your librarian).This is a free service offered in conjunction with other Nebraska libraries.

A new link for kids is "Homework Spot". It will be found on the Kids Page. Click on the Homework Spot logo and get help with your assignments.There is also a new link called "Science Buddies" that will help students create great science projects. Go to Kids Page for this one also.

The Battle Creek School website offers information about school activities, classes and upcoming events.

Learning Express Library is a site containing many tests that allows library patrons to access practice exams before they take their licensing, certification or entrance exams. New to this site are practice lessons on seeking a new job, writing a cover letter and a resume. It also includes advice on taking an interview for a job. Career tests included are GED, GRE, SAT, ACT, Civil Service, math and reading skills, EMT and firefighter exams. You will need to know your library card number for your username when you login. Contact the librarians to get that information before you click on the Learning Express link.

Family history information

The Family Search link helps amateur genealogists find information for their family trees.

Our new fundraising effort with Rada Mfg. is explained on the Foundation page. Any donations or fundraising ideas are very welcome at any time. Our Building fund stands at $240,500 right now. Most of the money is invested in CDs and earns interest every day.
