The Library Foundation was formed in November of 1985 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Members of the Foundation adopted by-laws in January of 1986. Since that time the Foundation has worked to raise funds to support the activities and needs of the Battle Creek Public Library.Donations are tax-deductible.Contact information is listed above.

The Foundation's current major project is fundraising for a new building. Our largest donation to date came from the estate of Florence Michaelson. The Foundation received $97,800.52 for the Building fund. Battle Creek State Bank also completed their pledge of $50,000 over 5 years. The recent Book and Bake Sale in November, the Waffle Feed and Raffle in October, memorials, the bank's pledge, Rada sales, etc.have brought the total to $240,500.00

A form to send with your donation is found at Donation Form.

Our newest fundraising effort is selling Rada Cutlery and kitchen items. This is a company from Iowa with American-made products to help in the kitchen. The knives they offer are very good quality and long lasting. They also offer packaged soup mixes, dip mixes, and dessert items that you can bake yourself, as well as cookbooks. To order contact the Library or a member of the Foundation. Orders usually arrive just a few days after you order. Orders can be sent as often as we have requests that total more than $20. Our phone number is listed above. Catalogs are available to take home and look. The Foundation gets 40% of the cost of each order.

Over the last year the Foundation's Building Committee has been tearing down the old buildings on the lots the City of Battle Creek has donated for building the new library on.They have made a lot of progress. The overhead doors have been salvaged and sold to add to the building fund. Some of the rafters from the main building have been sold and others have been recreated into rustic benches to raise money for the building as well.Other materials will also be salvaged.Below are some pictures of the demolition:
