The current library faces these restrictions:
- No Room--for story time, for speakers, for people.
- No Quiet Reading Areas--for reading, studying, searching.
- Computers and equipment dominate open spaces.
- Little Display Space--books and equipment have taken over bulletin board space, table tops,
and shelving.
- Little Staff Work Space--equipment, books, supplies, and patrons use up work space.
The current library holds over 25,000 physical items in a 1,700 sq.ft. building.
The Library Board and Foundation members have goals for the new library based on their mission
statements. These goals are:
- Education--lifelong learning opportunties involving meeting room, study carels, speakers,
demonstrations, workshops.
- Information--new books and resources and free access to current materials and technology.
- Cultural development--the study and preservation of local and family histories, speakers and
demonstrations on genealogical and historical research, and new technology to capture
and preserve this material.
- Entertainment--Free checkout of movies, books, audiobooks, computer files, electronic resources,
and more. The library owns more than 2300 videotapes, 300 dvds, several hundred audio
books in cassette, compact discs, and "Playaway" titles, and about 100 computer files now.
How much more could we offer with more space?
Join us in this project. Your donation can be recognized in so many ways.
A brick with your name or a loved one's name could be placed in the building.
You could donate enough to purchase one item of furniture or a stack of shelves with a brass plate
inscribed with the name you wish.
A donation for the computer room or the genealogy room or some other space could find your name
on a plaque on the wall or a brass plate on the door. It would be your choice.
